A committed group of believers here at Morning Star Baptist Church have been working night and day, seizing the open door that God has prepared for us by Katrina. Even now, Jeremy and Anouk Scott are steadily advancing on there way to a wide open mission field in Lafayette, Louisiana. As servants of our church to the region, they will be working with missionary Roger Price and under the leadership of the BMM logistics coordinator, Ray Mitchell, for what Roger Price has called “Katrina Response.”
“I am very excited about Jeremy and Anouk Scott. I have talked with them several times on the phone. They come highly reccommended, they are experienced, and I can’t wait to see how God will use them here.”~ Ray Mitchell
Also, please note the following letter from Roger Price:
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Praise the Lord for your readiness to serve Christ in this new opportunity of ministry that has been providentially opened up to us by Hurricane Katrina. As you can imagine, there has been a great out pouring of Christian love from all over the country. I believe that most of God’s children sense the tremendous potential for evangelism that is suddenly upon us as a result of the natural disaster here in Louisiana. Like you, I want to take advantage of this God-given opportunity.
Seeing the great door of opportunity that has been opened to us, sensing the great spiritual conflict, and being on the receiving end of countless phone calls and emails expressing a desire to serve, I was overwhelmed! However, God has provided help and guided in a plan.
This great opportunity will be called “Katrina Response,” for the sake of clarity. I have recruited the services of a fellow missionary and representative of Baptist Mid Missions to coordinate my ministry’s response to Katrina. Ray Mitchell is a second-generation missionary and has a keen sense for what must be done to coordinate all of the resources provided by churches responding to this great need. I am very impressed with his quick-thinking organizational and administrative skills. Therefore, I have delegated the coordination and logistical management of all Katrina-related ministry efforts in our mission work to Bro. Mitchell. As is expected, I will oversee the ministry and stay very connected to all the happenings, but with this plan I will be able to stay focused on the most critical work of all – the work of evangelizing the lost with the Word. It is especially critical at this time because we have more opportunities now than we have had in the entire thirteen years of my ministry in Lafayette. I am praising the Lord for all that He has done, for the response-team that He is building, for gifted men like Bro. Mitchell, and for your readiness to give and serve.
