I got asked by an ordained member of my Presbytery whether or not Joel Osteen was an “evangelical”? Fortunately, another ordained minister was w/ me who, after fumbling around a bit, said, well, “yes, I guess he is.” That being said, the pastor who asked the question was fine w/ Joel Osteen because he had the “evangelical” label (this pastor also considers Robert Shuler an “evangelical”).
Seems to show that it doesn’t matter which “camp” you’re in…some people are simply concerned that you have the right label.
Glad it’s not the case on this site.
