It Takes an Idiot in Florida

Let’s face it. The reason a bizarre, cultic nincompoop is making the news for doing a universally idiotic thing like burning the Koran is because everybody knows deep down that Islam is not a religion of peace. Regardless of what President Bush said, what American diplomats try to say, and what Islamic Americans keep trying to spin about the nature of Islam everybody from President Obama to the gun-toting redneck in West Virginia knows that Islam is not about peace. They know it instinctively. And that is why a creepy fool is making international news.

Now, I think that I am pretty clear about my own feelings concerning the burning of the Koran. I’m with everyone that is denouncing it. Kevin DeYoung is just one of the many that articulate my point of view on this. Significant leaders have powerfully separated biblical Christianity from this nonsense. But there are some elements of the critique that I find to be just a bit wrong-headed and I don’t buy them as good arguments.
